The Arduino UNO R4 Minima is a significant evolution of the classic UNO board, being the first to feature a 32-bit microcontroller. Powered by a Renesas RA4M1 series microcontroller (R7FA4M1AB3CFM#AA0), it embeds a 48 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M4 microprocessor, delivering a substantial performance boost over its predecessors. With an expanded memory of 256KB flash, 32KB SRAM, and 8KB data memory (EEPROM), the board is well-suited for more complex projects.
The board operates at 5V, ensuring hardware compatibility with existing UNO form factor shields designed for earlier revisions. However, due to the change of microcontroller, software compatibility with existing shields is not guaranteed. It offers a versatile set of I/O options, including 14 digital pins, 6 analogue input pins (ADC), and 6 PWM pins, along with a capacitive touch sensing unit and a USB 2.0 full-speed module. The board also features up to 14-bit ADC and DAC, and an operational amplifier, expanding its range of applications.
Power can be supplied via the recommended VIN input voltage of 6-24V (via the barrel jack), or through the USB-C® port at 5V. Schottky diodes provide overvoltage and reverse polarity protection, while the operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C ensures reliable performance in demanding environments. Communication interfaces include UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN, making the board highly adaptable for various connectivity needs.
