Atmel AT89S8253 8-Bit Microcontroller, SMD, 12KB Flash, 24MHz

The Atmel AT89S8253 8-Bit Microcontroller is an 8-bit CMOS microcontroller with 12kB of ISP flash program memory for embedded control applications. It combines a versatile CPU with In-System Programmable (ISP) flash memory on a single chip, supported by 2kB of EEPROM data memory.

Manufactured using Atmel's high-density non-volatile memory technology, the device is fully compatible with the industry-standard MCS-51 instruction set and pinout, which supports integration into existing designs. The on-chip downloadable flash can be reprogrammed in-system via an SPI serial interface or through a conventional non-volatile memory programmer.

Key Features

• Versatile I/O and Peripherals: 32 programmable I/O lines, three 16-bit timers/counters and nine interrupt sources.
• Communication Interfaces: An enhanced UART serial port with framing error detection and automatic address recognition, plus an enhanced SPI interface with double write/read buffering.
• Power Management: Low-power idle and power-down modes, with interrupt recovery from power-down mode.
• Memory Protection: Three-level program memory lock and a programmable watchdog timer.
• Programming Options: Dual data pointer, power-off flag, and ISP programming in byte or page mode.
