ATMEL ATmega48PA-AU 8-bit AVR Microcontroller, 4KB Flash, 32-pin TQFP

The ATMEL ATmega48PA-AU is a high-performance, picoPower 8-bit microcontroller based on the AVR RISC architecture. It combines substantial onboard memory with a rich set of peripherals, making it an efficient and versatile solution for embedded control applications.

The device features 4KB of in-system programmable flash memory, 256 bytes of EEPROM, and 512 bytes of SRAM. It provides 23 general-purpose I/O lines and 32 general-purpose working registers, enabling fast data manipulation. The core executes powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, achieving throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz, which balances processing speed with power consumption effectively.

Power Management

Designed for energy-sensitive applications, the microcontroller supports an operating voltage from 1.8V to 5.5V and offers five software-selectable power-saving modes: Idle, ADC Noise Reduction, Power-save, Power-down, Standby, and Extended Standby. Additional features include power-on reset (POR) and programmable brown-out detection for reliable operation.

The device also includes QTouch® library support for implementing capacitive touch buttons, sliders, and wheels. It is housed in a compact 32-pin TQFP package suitable for surface-mount technology (SMT) and operates across a wide industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
