ATMEL ATmega8A-AU 8-Bit AVR Microcontroller, 8KB Flash, 32-TQFP, Surface Mount

The ATMEL ATmega8A-AU is a high-performance, low-power 8-bit AVR RISC-based microcontroller. It combines 8kB of in-system programmable flash memory with read-while-write capabilities, 512B EEPROM, and 1kB SRAM. With 23 general-purpose I/O lines, 32 general-purpose working registers, three flexible timer/counters with compare modes, and both internal and external interrupts, it is designed for demanding embedded applications.

The device features a byte-oriented Two-Wire serial interface, a serial programmable USART, a 6-channel 10-bit A/D converter, a programmable watchdog timer with an internal oscillator, and an SPI serial port. It also provides five software-selectable power-saving modes: Idle, ADC noise reduction, power-save, power-down, and standby.

Operating between 2.7V and 5.5V, the microcontroller executes powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, achieving throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz. This balances power consumption and processing speed effectively. The advanced RISC architecture includes an on-chip 2-cycle multiplier for efficient computation.
