The BBC micro:bit V2 is an easily programmable Single Board Computer (SBC) designed to inspire creative coding and hardware projects. At its heart lies the Nordic nRF52833 processor, featuring an ARM Cortex-M4F core with 512KB Flash and 128KB RAM. A single, complete application—including user code, runtime code, and the Bluetooth stack—runs directly from the on-chip flash memory.
Equipped with an on-board 2.4GHz antenna, this micro:bit supports Bluetooth communications via the Nordic S113 SoftDevice, providing a fully qualified Bluetooth Low Energy stack. The board includes a combined accelerometer and magnetometer chip for 3-axis sensing and magnetic field strength detection, alongside an on-board MEMS microphone with a built-in LED indicator on the front to show when it is powered.
Features and Connectivity
The micro:bit V2 boasts a 5x5 red LED display matrix with 255-step intensity control, which can also be used to sense ambient light via a software algorithm. It features two programmable tactile buttons, an onboard speaker, and a capacitive touch sensor for versatile user interaction. A dedicated I2C bus is included for peripherals, alongside onboard motion and temperature sensors. Connectivity is further enhanced by a full-speed USB 2.0 interface via a micro USB connection and a new notched edge connector, making it easier to attach crocodile clips and conductive thread.
