The Kitronik Prong Soil Moisture Sensor for micro:bit is a simple and effective sensor board designed to be mounted directly onto the micro:bit to detect soil moisture levels. Any moisture present in the soil will conduct electricity, which can then be read as an analogue voltage by the micro:bit.
To determine the moisture level, the signal is brought out to Pin 1, providing a reading that ranges from 0V (dry) to 3V (wet). This allows for precise monitoring of environmental conditions, making it an excellent choice for educational projects and automated plant care systems.
The sensor is powered directly by the micro:bit via USB or JST connections, ensuring a convenient and cable-free setup. Installation is straightforward; the board simply screws onto the micro:bit, or it can be connected using standard crocodile clips, offering flexibility in how it is integrated into your projects.
