The MICROCHIP ATmega328-AU is a high-performance, low-power 8-bit microcontroller based on the advanced AVR RISC architecture. It combines 32KB of in-system programmable (ISP) flash memory with read-while-write capabilities, 1KB of EEPROM, and 2KB of SRAM, offering a robust memory configuration for complex embedded applications. This device operates across a wide voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V and achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz, delivering an optimal balance between processing speed and power efficiency.

The microcontroller features 23 general-purpose I/O lines, 32 general-purpose working registers, and a comprehensive set of peripherals. It supports multiple software-selectable power-saving modes—Idle, ADC Noise Reduction, Power-save, Power-down, Standby, and Extended Standby—to minimise energy consumption in battery-sensitive designs. Power consumption is exceptionally low, rated at 0.2mA in active mode, 0.1µA in power-down mode, and 0.75µA in power-save mode with a 32kHz RTC.

Housed in a compact 32-pin TQFP surface-mount package, this MCU is engineered for industrial environments, with an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. Its high-endurance non-volatile memory segments and extensive internal and external interrupt sources make it an ideal, reliable core for a vast array of control and automation projects.
