The MICROCHIP ATTINY84A-PU is a high-performance, low-power 8-bit AVR RISC-based microcontroller from the ATtiny family. It combines a rich set of features including 8KB of program memory, 512 bytes of EEPROM and 512 bytes of RAM, in a compact 14-pin DIP package. With an advanced RISC architecture, it executes powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, achieving throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz, allowing you to balance power consumption and processing speed effectively.

This versatile MCU includes 12 general-purpose I/O lines, 32 working registers, two timers/counters (8-bit and 16-bit) each with two PWM channels, as well as internal and external interrupt sources. It also features an 8-channel 10-bit A/D converter with a programmable gain stage (1x, 20x) for 12 differential ADC channel pairs, making it ideal for analogue sensor applications. The device includes a programmable watchdog timer with internal oscillator, an internal calibrated oscillator, and an on-chip temperature sensor.

Four software-selectable power-saving modes (Idle, ADC Noise Reduction, Standby, and Power-down) help minimise power consumption, with typical active mode current of just 210µA at 1.8V and 1MHz, and idle mode current of 33µA. An enhanced power-on reset circuit and programmable brown-out detection circuit (with software disable function) ensure reliable operation. The device operates over a supply voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V and can run at speeds up to 20MHz, with a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. In-system programming via the SPI port and the debugWIRE on-chip debug system simplify development and field updates.
