MICROCHIP PIC16F627A 8-Bit Flash MCU, DIP18

The MICROCHIP PIC16F627A is a powerful 8-bit fully-static Flash-based CMOS microcontroller designed for versatile applications. Featuring an enhanced core with an eight-level deep stack and multiple internal and external interrupt sources, it utilises the Harvard architecture with separate instruction and data buses. This allows a 14-bit wide instruction word alongside separate 8-bit wide data. A two-stage instruction pipeline ensures all instructions execute in a single cycle, except for program branches which require two cycles. With a total of 35 instructions complemented by a large register set, this microcontroller provides efficient performance.

Integrated Peripherals and Power Management

The PIC16F627A boasts integrated features that reduce the need for external components, enhancing system reliability and reducing overall power consumption. Key features include a 4MHz internal oscillator, 128 bytes of EEPROM data memory, a capture/compare/PWM module, a USART, two comparators, and a programmable voltage reference. Power-saving capabilities are supported through a dedicated sleep mode and a low-speed clock mode.

Programming and Safety Features

This microcontroller supports In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP) via two pins and low-voltage programming, making it highly adaptable for development and production environments. Reliability is further enhanced by a watchdog timer with an independent oscillator, programmable code protection, brown-out reset, power-on reset, and both a power-up timer and oscillator start-up timer. Programmable weak pull-ups on port-B and a multiplexed master clear/input-pin offer additional flexibility for your designs.
