The MICROCHIP PIC18F252-I/SO is a high-performance enhanced flash microcontroller, designed for demanding applications in embedded systems. It features a powerful RISC CPU capable of operating at up to 10 MIPS, with 16-bit wide instructions and an 8-bit data path for efficient performance.

This versatile MCU is equipped with 32KB of self-reprogrammable flash program memory and 256 bytes of data EEPROM, boasting a data retention of greater than 40 years. It includes a substantial 1.5KB of RAM and offers 23 I/O pins for extensive peripheral interfacing. A key feature is the integrated 10-bit Analogue-to-Digital Converter (ADC) with 5 independent channels, enabling precise data acquisition from multiple sensors.

Flexible Communication & Control

The microcontroller supports multiple communication protocols for seamless system integration. Its synchronous serial port can be configured as a 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI™) or a 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C™) bus. It also includes an Addressable Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (AUSART). For timing and control, it provides two capture/compare/PWM modules and a Watchdog Timer (WDT) with its own on-chip RC oscillator for reliable operation.

Robust Development & Reliability Features

Designed with development in mind, it features a C compiler-friendly environment and supports In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™) and In-Circuit Debug (ICD) via just two pins each. Built-in reliability is ensured through programmable low-voltage detection (PLVD), programmable brown-out reset (BOR), and a power-saving sleep mode. The single 5V supply operation simplifies power design.

Constructed with low-power, high-speed CMOS flash/EEPROM technology, this surface-mount device in an SOIC package is suitable for industrial environments, operating from -40°C to 85°C.
