NXP Arm Kinetis KW2Xd Freedom Development Board Kit, 2 Boards

The NXP Freedom Development Board is a platform designed for Kinetis W Series microcontrollers. Based on the Kinetis W Series, this development platform is enabled by software support for Thread, ZigBee Pro, 802.15.4 MAC, SMAC, and the Kinetis Software Development Kit (SDK).

This kit contains two boards, enabling point-to-point out-of-the-box connectivity. The Kinetis microcontroller is a low-power, compact integrated device consisting of a high-performance 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4 compliant radio transceiver and a powerful Arm Cortex-M4 core system with connectivity and precision mixed-signal analogue peripherals.

These evaluation boards are designed to work either in standalone mode or as part of the Freedom development platforms for quick application prototyping. They are fully supported by a comprehensive enablement environment. Key features include a full IEEE 802.15.4 compliant wireless node, a reference design area with a small footprint for a low-cost RF node, and an integrated PCB inverted F-type antenna alongside an SMA RF port.

Additional hardware encompasses multiple push buttons and LEDs, an OpenSDA debug interface, and a combo sensor featuring a 6-axis sensor with an integrated linear accelerometer and magnetometer. It also features a 32MHz reference oscillator, a 32KHz clock oscillator for 2.4GHz ISM band operation, and external serial flash for over-the-air programming (OTAP) support.

Measuring just 43 mm in height, 33 mm in width, and 15 mm in depth, with a total weight of 180 grams, this kit includes two Freedom development boards, two USB cables, and a quick reference card.
