Onsemi CAT24C512 512Kbit I2C Serial EEPROM SOIC-8

Onsemi CAT24C512 512Kbit I2C Serial EEPROM is a 512Kbit CMOS serial EEPROM in an SOIC-8 package. Internally organised as 65,536 words of 8-bit each, it provides non-volatile data storage for a range of electronic designs.

Overview

The device features a 128-byte page write buffer for efficient data programming. It supports the standard (100kHz), fast (400kHz) and fast-plus (1MHz) I²C communication protocols, allowing integration into systems with varying speed requirements. Low-power CMOS technology makes the device well suited to power-sensitive designs.

Key Features

• Hardware write protection, activated by taking the WP pin high, protects the entire memory array from unintended writes.
• External address pins allow up to eight CAT24C512 devices to be connected on the same I²C bus, simplifying system design for expanded memory needs.
• On-chip Error Correction Code (ECC) supports data integrity where data accuracy is critical.
• Schmitt triggers and noise suppression filters on the SCL and SDA inputs support stable communication in electrically noisy environments, such as those typical of industrial settings.
• Rated for 1,000,000 program/erase cycles with a data retention period of 100 years.
