Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ for Raspberry Pi 5, 26 TOPS

The Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ is an add-on board featuring a built-in Hailo AI accelerator, designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5. Offering 26 tera-operations per second (TOPS), it provides a power-efficient way to integrate AI capabilities into your projects.

The AI HAT+ communicates using the Raspberry Pi 5’s PCIe Gen 3 interface. When the host Raspberry Pi 5 runs an up-to-date Raspberry Pi OS image, it automatically detects the on-board Hailo accelerator and makes the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) available for AI computing tasks. The built-in rpicam-apps camera applications in Raspberry Pi OS natively support the AI module, automatically using the NPU to run compatible post-processing tasks.

Neural Network Applications

The 26 TOPS variant runs neural networks for applications including object detection, semantic and instance segmentation, pose estimation, and more. It is fully integrated into Raspberry Pi’s camera software stack.

Specifications and Setup

The board conforms to the Raspberry Pi HAT+ specification and features an ambient operating temperature range from 0 to 50°C. Measuring 36.5 mm in height, 26 mm in width, and 13.5 mm in depth, it weighs just 33 grams. Supplied contents include the Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ add-on board, a 16mm stacking header, spacers, and screws to enable fitting on the Raspberry Pi 5 with the Raspberry Pi active cooler in place.
