SB Components Motor Driver HAT for Raspberry Pi

The SB Components Motor Driver HAT is a powerful, dedicated motor control module designed for the Raspberry Pi. It empowers your single-board computer to drive up to two DC motors simultaneously with precision, making it the perfect core component for building responsive robots, robotic buggies, and other motorised projects.

At its heart are two key integrated circuits. The PCA9685 PWM driver provides 12-bit hardware PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), enabling smooth and accurate control over motor speed without taxing the Raspberry Pi's CPU. For robust motor driving, it employs the TB6612FNG motor driver IC, capable of delivering up to 3A of current per channel, sufficient for a wide range of small to medium-sized DC motors.

Powering your project is flexible. The HAT can be supplied with 6-12V DC via the VIN terminal, allowing you to use a battery pack for truly mobile applications. An onboard 5V regulator ensures stable power for the HAT's logic and can even provide clean power back to the Raspberry Pi. Convenient features include a physical on/off power switch for quick control and a full 40-pin GPIO extension that passes through all Raspberry Pi pins, allowing you to stack additional HATs or connect other peripherals.

Communication is handled via the I2C interface, using minimal GPIO pins and leaving the rest available for sensors, displays, or other components.
