The SB COMPONENTS USB-C RTC Breakout Board provides a compact, modern solution for adding high-precision timekeeping to your electronic projects. At its core is the renowned DS3231 Real-Time Clock (RTC) IC, known for its exceptional accuracy, which is further enhanced by a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO). This combination ensures reliable operation across a wide temperature range, delivering ±2ppm accuracy from 0°C to 40°C and ±3.5ppm accuracy from -40°C to 85°C.
Designed for contemporary convenience, the board features an integrated USB-C connector. This provides direct power to the board (5V supply) and houses a USB to UART/I2C converter, enabling straightforward communication with a PC or microcontroller without the need for additional adapters. The breakout also includes a digital temperature sensor with ±3°C accuracy for environmental monitoring.
For projects requiring persistent timekeeping during main power loss, the board is equipped with a built-in CR1220 battery slot for a backup power source (battery not included). Communication is handled via a fast 400kHz I2C interface, and the board operates on a wide voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V.
