The StarTech.com 1 Port 10GbE PCI-Express Network Adaptor Card enables you to install a single-port 10GbE PCIe Network Interface Card (NIC) into your server or desktop computer. This provides faster network speeds and enhanced network functionality, supporting six different speeds: 10Gbps, 5Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 1Gbps, 100Mbps, and 10Mbps.
These variable speeds permit seamless access to legacy hardware, while the 10GBASE-T and NBASE-T capabilities ensure compatibility with the latest network switches and access points from manufacturers such as Cisco, HPE, and Juniper. By providing access to increased bandwidth, this network card reduces network slowdown and degradation when running data-intensive applications and processes, including FTPs, online storage and backup, and streaming online content.
Advanced Cabling Technology
The NBASE-T technology maximises the capability of existing Cat5e copper cabling over distances of up to 100 metres. For maximum performance, the Ethernet network card supports a 10Gbps connection over copper using existing Cat6 or better cabling. Please note that Cat6 or Cat6a cabling is required for 10Gb/s network speeds, and the maximum speed is 5Gb/s when installed in a PCI-Express 2.0 slot.
