The Texas Instruments Adjustable Linear Voltage Regulator is a 3-terminal device capable of supplying in excess of 1.5A over an output voltage range of 1.2V to 37V. Designed for ease of use, this regulator requires only two external resistors to set the output voltage, offering line and load regulation superior to standard fixed regulators.
This device provides comprehensive overload protection, including current limit, thermal overload protection, and safe area protection. All overload protection circuitry remains fully functional even if the adjustment terminal is disconnected. The regulator detects only the input-to-output differential voltage, allowing the regulation of supplies of several hundred volts, provided the maximum input-to-output differential is not exceeded and the output is not short-circuited.
Additionally, by connecting a fixed resistor between the adjustment pin and the output, this component can be configured as a precision current regulator. It features a typical load regulation of 0.1%, typical line regulation of 0.01%, current limit constant with temperature, and 80dB ripple rejection. The output is short-circuit protected, ensuring robust performance in demanding applications.
With compact dimensions of 43 mm in height, 33 mm in width, and 15 mm in depth, and weighing just 2.157 grams, this surface-mount regulator is suitable for space-constrained designs.
