The TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Brushed DC Motor Driver is a highly efficient H-bridge driver designed for printers, appliances, industrial equipment, and other small machines. Housed in an 8-pin SO PowerPAD package, this driver controls brushed DC motors bidirectionally using four N-channel MOSFETs. It delivers a continuous output current of 2A and a peak current drive of up to 3.6A, ensuring robust performance for demanding applications.
Control and Regulation
Two logic inputs allow for PWM control to manage motor speed with a choice of current-decay modes. Setting both inputs low engages a low-power sleep mode, conserving energy when the motor is inactive. The driver also features integrated current regulation based on the analogue input VREF and the ISEN pin voltage. This ability to limit current to a known level significantly reduces system power requirements and the bulk capacitance needed to maintain stable voltage, especially during motor start-up and stall conditions.
