The Texas Instruments SN74HC245N is a high-performance octal bus transceiver featuring 3-state outputs, designed specifically for asynchronous two-way data communication between bus systems. Its intelligent control function minimises external timing requirements, simplifying system design and integration.

This versatile device allows for bidirectional data flow, transmitting from the A bus to the B bus or vice versa, controlled simply by the logic level applied to the direction-control (DIR) input. An output-enable (OE) input provides further control, allowing the device to be disabled to effectively isolate the connected buses when needed. This feature is crucial for managing bus contention and enabling multiple devices to share a common data path.
