The PCF series from TT Electronics / Welwyn is a high-precision thin-film nichrome chip resistor, designed for demanding electronic applications where accuracy and stability are paramount. This 100-ohm model features an exceptionally tight tolerance of ±0.1% and a power rating of 100mW, housed in the compact and industry-standard 0805 2012 metric package.

Manufactured using advanced thin-film technology, the resistor is created by selectively depositing a nichrome film onto a high-grade 96% alumina substrate. This base ensures excellent thermal and mechanical stability. Metallic contacts are applied at each end, and the component undergoes a precise heat treatment process to achieve the required Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR) and long-term stability. A finely controlled laser trimming process then adjusts the resistance to its exact specified value.

For protection, the resistor element is coated with a durable epoxy layer. The wrap-around terminations are plated with nickel and a 100% tin matte finish, making them perfectly suited for both reflow and wave soldering processes onto ceramic substrates or printed circuit boards. The passivated range of the series offers superior performance in humid environments, ensuring reliability.

The rectangular shape and tight dimensional tolerances of the 0805 package make it ideally suited for high-speed automated pick-and-place assembly, streamlining production.
