The Velleman VRSSM ServoShield is an advanced add‑on board that significantly expands the servo‑control capabilities of popular microcontroller platforms. It enables you to connect up to 12× 9G servo motors when mounted on an Arduino® UNO, or an impressive 36× 9G servo motors when paired with an Arduino® MEGA, making it an indispensable tool for complex robotics and multi‑joint projects.
Designed for flexibility and ease of use, the shield provides a dedicated external power connector to ensure servos receive stable, independent power, preventing overload on the main board. Onboard features include a programmable sounder that can generate various audio feedback tones and four bright blue LEDs positioned at each corner to give a clear visual indication of power status.
Beyond servo control, the shield offers extensive general‑purpose input/output (GPIO) expansion, providing 36 inputs/outputs in total. It is fully compatible with both Arduino® Mega and Uno boards. Additional integrated features include an onboard infrared (IR) receiver and a program/receive switch, facilitating remote control and operational mode selection. Six analogue ports (A0‑A5) are also accessible for connecting sensors and other analogue devices.
The ServoShield is designed to work seamlessly with the Velleman Allbot ecosystem, including compatibility with the Allbot battery shield and Allbot Li‑ion battery pack for mobile, untethered applications. A comprehensive instruction manual is supplied in multiple languages: Dutch, English, French, German, and Spanish.
This electronics kit is suitable for enthusiasts aged 9 and above, offering an excellent introduction to robotics and programming. For safety, children under 14 are advised to build and operate the kit under adult supervision.
