The **Zymkey 4i Hardware Security Module (HSM)** is a powerful security solution that plugs directly onto the GPIO header of a Raspberry Pi, ensuring a quick and straightforward installation that can be integrated even late in the design cycle. It provides robust, multi-layered protection against both cyber and physical threats, making it an essential accessory for securing IoT applications and sensitive data.

With comprehensive software support, the Zymkey 4i features readily available APIs in Python, C, and C++. Extensive example code and online documentation simplify the process of integrating advanced security features into your application, offering a low-risk development path. It is designed to work seamlessly with standard Raspbian distributions, with optional support available for other Linux distributions.

**Core Security Features**

At the heart of the Zymkey 4i is a secure element (SE) utilising micro-grid protected silicon to store the most sensitive cryptographic resources. A dedicated security supervisor acts to isolate this secure element from the host computer, adding crucial layers of defence.

* **Multi-Factor Identity & Authentication:** Provides strong device identity and authentication mechanisms.
* **Cryptographic Engine:** Features some of the strongest commercially available cipher functions for encrypting, signing, and authenticating data.
* **Key Generation & Secure Storage:** Safely generates and stores cryptographic keys within the tamper-resistant hardware.
* **Physical Tamper Detection:** Integrated sensors actively detect physical interference attempts.
* **Root of Trust:** The secure element serves as a hardware root of trust for the entire system.
* **Remote Attestation:** Enables verification of the host device's hardware configuration from a remote location.
