StarTech.com 2-Port PCIe RS232 Serial Adaptor Card

The StarTech.com 2-Port PCIe RS232 Serial Adaptor Card provides a reliable and high-performance solution for adding legacy serial connectivity to modern desktop computers. Its PCI-Express interface ensures fast and stable data transfer, making it ideal for connecting essential serial devices such as card readers, printers, scales, and industrial equipment.

At the heart of the card is the industry-standard 16950 UART controller, renowned for its compatibility and efficiency. This technology supports impressively high baud rates of up to 921.4Kb/s, allowing for rapid communication with serial peripherals. Each port features a 256-byte FIFO (First In, First Out) buffer per transmitter and receiver, which helps to prevent data loss and smooths out communication by managing the flow of information.

A practical feature is the provision of 5/12V power output on pin 9 when external power is connected. This can be crucial for powering certain serial devices directly from the port, simplifying setup and reducing cable clutter. The card is supplied ready for installation in low-profile computer cases with its low-profile bracket pre-fitted, and includes an optional full-size bracket for standard cases, offering excellent flexibility.
