The Microchip 8-Bit Flash Microcontroller utilises a high-performance, fully static, Flash-based CMOS technology employing a RISC architecture. It features 33 single-word and single-cycle instructions, with all instructions executing in a single cycle (1µs) except for program branches, which require two cycles. The 12-bit wide instructions are highly symmetrical, contributing to efficient code compression, whilst the straightforward instruction set helps to reduce development time significantly.
This microcontroller is equipped with several features designed to reduce system cost and power consumption. It includes a precision 4/8MHz internal oscillator, a device reset timer (1.125ms DRT), and a low sleep current of 100nA. Additionally, it offers In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP™) and In-Circuit Debugging support, streamlining the development and manufacturing processes.
