The Microchip Fixed LDO Voltage Regulator is a high-performance CMOS low dropout positive voltage regulator designed to deliver reliable power management. Capable of providing a maximum output current of 250mA, this regulator is engineered for efficiency with an incredibly low quiescent current consumption of typically 2.0µA. This makes it an ideal solution for power-sensitive applications utilising multi-cell, 9V alkaline, or one- or two-cell lithium-ion batteries.
Delivering precision, the device features a typical output voltage tolerance of ±0.4% at +25°C and ±3% maximum across the wide operating junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Line regulation is typically ±0.1% at +25°C. Furthermore, the LDO output remains stable using only 1µF to 22µF of output capacitance, offering excellent design flexibility. Ceramic, tantalum, or aluminium electrolytic capacitors can all be utilised for both input and output filtering.
To ensure system reliability under demanding conditions, this voltage regulator includes comprehensive protection mechanisms. Built-in over-current limiting, short-circuit protection, and over-temperature shutdown safeguard both the device and the broader application circuitry.
