Texas Instruments DC-DC Switching Buck Step Down Regulator, Adjustable, 3A, TO- - 4V in 1.23V out out

The Texas Instruments DC-DC Switching Buck Step Down Regulator is a high-efficiency monolithic integrated circuit designed to provide an efficient replacement for popular three-terminal linear regulators. By substantially reducing the size of the required heat sink—or eliminating the need for one entirely—this regulator simplifies circuit design and saves valuable board space.

Capable of driving loads up to 3A with excellent line and load regulation, this step-down regulator features an adjustable output to accommodate a wide range of power requirements. A standard series of inductors optimised for use with this regulator family is readily available from several manufacturers, greatly simplifying the design of switch-mode power supplies.

Key Features and Protection

• High Efficiency: Offers superior efficiency compared to standard linear regulators
• Thermal Shutdown and Current Limiting: Includes cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown for full protection under fault conditions
• Low Power Standby: Features external TTL shutdown capability with a typical standby current of just 50μA
• Precise Regulation: Specified with a ±4% tolerance on output voltage and ±10% on the oscillator frequency

Designed for surface mount applications, the TO-263-5 (D2PAK) package ensures a compact and reliable installation. This component operates effectively across a wide temperature range, making it a versatile choice for demanding power management applications.
