Microchip Low Power Linear Active Thermistor, -40°C to 125°C

This Microchip Low Power Linear Active Thermistor IC provides a cost-effective and reliable solution for measuring temperature in a wide variety of applications. Housed in a compact 5-pin SC-70 package, this analogue temperature sensor seamlessly converts temperature into an analogue voltage, eliminating the need for additional signal conditioning circuitry. This significantly reduces development overhead associated with traditional thermistor biasing circuits.

Designed for efficiency, the device consumes a typical operating current of just 6μA. It offers an accuracy of ±4°C within the 0°C to 70°C range and features an extended operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C. With a temperature coefficient of 10.0mV/°C and a sensor output voltage of 500mV at 0°C, the voltage output pin can be directly connected to the ADC input of a microcontroller.

A key advantage of this sensor is its immunity to the effects of parasitic capacitance and its optimisation to drive large capacitive loads. This capability provides excellent printed circuit board (PCB) layout flexibility, enabling the device to be positioned remotely from the microcontroller without compromising performance. The packaged component measures 43 mm in height, 33 mm in width, and 15 mm in depth, with a lightweight profile of just 0.054 grams.
