Microchip PIC16F630 8-bit Flash Microcontroller SOIC-14

Microchip PIC16F630 8-bit Flash Microcontroller is a versatile 8-bit Flash-based CMOS microcontroller with 1.75KB of program memory, designed for reliable operation in demanding embedded applications. It is supplied in a compact SOIC-14 surface-mount package.

Overview

The device provides 128 bytes of EEPROM data memory and 64 bytes of RAM. An integrated watchdog timer, controlled by configuration bits, helps maintain system stability by resetting the device in the event of a software malfunction. An on-chip RC oscillator allows the microcontroller to run independently, which can reduce component count.

Timing and Reset

An Oscillator Start-up Timer (OST) keeps the chip in reset until the crystal oscillator is stable, while a Power-up Timer (PWRT) provides a fixed 72ms nominal delay on power-up to allow the supply to stabilise. Combined with brown-out reset circuitry, these integrated functions can remove the need for some external reset components.

Core Features

• Individually programmable weak pull-up resistors on I/O pins
• Programmable code protection for intellectual property security
• Eight oscillator selections, including a 4MHz RC oscillator with programmable calibration
• Power-saving sleep mode for battery-operated or low-power applications
• MPLAB ICD-2 programming and debugging support with an optional header adapter
• High endurance Flash and EEPROM cells for long-term data storage and firmware updates
