Take full control of your robot with two powerful micro-metal gear motors featuring fully enclosed gearboxes. These motors are fully controllable in software, allowing you to precisely set both speed (from 0 to 100%) and direction (forward or reverse). Paired with large, chunky wheels and rubber tyres, the Bit:Bot XL delivers maximum traction for smooth and reliable movement across various surfaces.

Bring your creations to life with vibrant light and sound. The robot is fitted with 12 individually addressable RGB LEDs arranged in two sets of six along its side 'arms'. You can program any colour for any LED, creating stunning lighting patterns and effects that sync with your robot's movements. A dedicated buzzer, now connected to Pin 0, allows you to program sound effects or even play simple music.

Develop advanced autonomous behaviours with a suite of integrated sensors. It features two digital line-following sensors (which no longer share pins with the micro:bit's A/B buttons) for coding your own line-following robots and races. Two analogue light sensors with indicator LEDs enable programming for light-seeking or light-avoiding behaviours. Expansion connections at the front allow you to easily add more sensors, like the ultrasonic distance sensor shown in illustrations, to expand its capabilities further.
