The DC-DC Switching Boost (Step Up) Regulator is a monolithic high-voltage switching regulator with an integrated 1.2A/40V power MOSFET. It can be configured in several standard topologies, including boost and SEPIC, offering flexibility for a wide range of applications. With an input voltage range of 3V to 18V, it supports inputs from multicell batteries or regulated 5V/12V power rails.
Operating at a 1.2MHz switching frequency, the regulator allows the use of low-profile inductors and low-value ceramic capacitors, saving space and cost. The external loop compensation components enable users to optimise loop compensation and transient response according to their specific requirements. Built-in protection features include a pulse-by-pulse overcurrent limit, soft-start, and thermal shutdown for safe and reliable operation.
The feedback pin regulates to a reference voltage of 1.229V, which can be lowered via a one-wire digital interface (Easyscale™ protocol) or by applying a PWM signal to the CTRL pin, enabling on-the-fly output voltage reprogramming. The device also features skip-switching cycle for output regulation at light load, ensuring high efficiency—up to 93% typical. It can deliver 12V at 300mA or 24V at 150mA from a 5V input (typical).
