The EMBEST MBC-SAM9X25 is a compact ARM embedded core board built around the ATMEL ARM926EJ-S-based processor, the AT91SAM9X25. It integrates 128MB DDR2 SDRAM, 256MB NAND flash, 4MB data flash, 64KB serial EEPROM, and 128B one-wire EEPROM, providing robust storage and memory capabilities for demanding embedded applications.

Running at 400MHz, the SAM9X25 delivers high performance while offering extensive networking and connectivity options. Its 10-layer bus matrix, coupled with 2x8 central DMA channels and dedicated DMA controllers, ensures uninterrupted data transfer with minimal processor overhead. The board features two CAN interfaces, two IEEE 802.3 compliant 10/100 Mbps Ethernet MACs, and additional interfaces including a soft modem (supporting Conexan SmartDAA line driver), HS USB device and host, FS USB host, two HS SDCard/SDIO/MMC slots, USARTs, SPIs, I2S, TWIs, and a 10-bit ADC.

Memory and Storage

The MBC-SAM9X25 comes with 16KB data cache, 16KB instruction cache, and a memory management unit. It includes 64KB internal ROM with a bootstrap routine for booting from NAND flash, SDCard, or data flash in a programmable order, plus 32KB internal SRAM with single-cycle access at system speed. The board also features a shutdown controller with four 32-bit battery backup registers, two 3-channel 32-bit timer/counters, two master/slave serial peripheral interfaces, an advanced interrupt controller, and a debug unit.

Software Support

This core board supports both WinCE and Linux operating systems, making it versatile for a wide range of development projects. Its compact dimensions (43mm x 33mm x 15mm) and lightweight design (500g) enable easy integration into space-constrained systems.
