This kit supports data transfer rates from 300 baud up to 3 Mbps at TTL/CMOS levels, ensuring fast and reliable communication. The entire USB protocol is handled by the chip, so no USB-specific firmware programming is required. It also supports 7 or 8 data bits, 1 or 2 stop bits, and odd/even/mark/space/no parity settings, giving you flexible configuration options. Full hardware handshaking as well as X-On/X-Off software handshaking are supported.
The module is compatible with bus-powered, self-powered, and high-power bus-powered USB configurations, and includes an integrated 1024-bit EEPROM for storing USB VID, PID, serial number, and product description strings. FTDI’s royalty-free VCP and D2XX drivers eliminate the need for custom USB driver development, and configurable CBUS I/O pins provide transmit and receive LED drive signals. With a compact design that plugs into a standard 24-pin, 0.6-inch DIP socket, this evaluation kit is perfect for a variety of applications including networking, wireless, portable devices, medical, security, audio, imaging, industrial, and consumer electronics.
