The KEMET 4.7µF 50V X7R Open Mode Capacitor is engineered for critical applications where reliability is paramount. Designed with an open mode/fail open construction, this capacitor minimises the risk of low insulation resistance or short-circuit conditions when subjected to board flex stress. In the event of a crack, the open mode design prevents the crack from propagating across counter electrodes, reducing the likelihood of a catastrophic failure. Even if capacitance loss occurs, the absence of current leakage avoids localised heating, ensuring safe operation.

This non-polar capacitor eliminates installation concerns, and its mid-to-high capacitance range makes it ideal for automotive circuits and general electronic applications. The KEMET FO-CAP series offers excellent flexibility with capacitance values from 1000pF to 6.8µF and multiple case sizes including EIA 0805, 1206, 1210 and 1812.
