Kitronik Compact All-in-one Robotics Board for BBC micro:bit

The Kitronik Compact All-in-one Robotics Board is a powerful and versatile expansion board designed to transform the BBC micro:bit (v1 or v2) into the heart of sophisticated robotics projects. Despite its small footprint, it delivers extensive connectivity and control, making it an ideal choice for educational settings, hobbyists, and prototyping.

This board is equipped with two Dual H-Bridge Motor Driver ICs, enabling it to drive up to four standard DC motors or two stepper motors simultaneously. Additionally, it features eight servo outputs that support both standard and continuous rotation servos, providing precise control for a wide array of robotic mechanisms. All these functions are conveniently controlled via the I2C protocol using a dedicated 16-channel driver IC, simplifying the programming process.

To enhance usability, especially for beginners, Kitronik provides custom MakeCode blocks that make I2C communication straightforward and accessible. The board includes a link header designed for 2.54mm pitch pin headers, with the I2C communication lines broken out to allow for the connection and control of additional I2C-compatible devices. For power management, it features an on/off switch and a power status LED. You can power the board via either a terminal block or a servo-style connector, and the 3V and GND pins are also available on the Link header to power external components.

With 17 other I/O expansion points, the micro:bit's capabilities are significantly extended, allowing for the integration of sensors, lights, and other peripherals.
