MCP73811T Battery Charger Li-Ion Li-Pol SOT-23-5

The MCP73811T-420I/OT from Microchip is a simple, miniature, fully integrated charge management controller designed specifically for single-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer batteries. This linear charge management controller is engineered for use in space-limited and cost-sensitive applications, offering a complete charging solution in a compact SOT-23-5 package.

This device is designed to provide specific charge algorithms for single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer batteries, ensuring optimal capacity in the shortest possible charging time. When powered from a USB port, the controller adheres to all specifications governing the USB power bus, making it an ideal choice for portable applications.

The MCP73811T features ±1% voltage regulation accuracy for precise charging, on-chip thermal regulation to protect the device during operation, and a logic-selectable charge current. Only two external ceramic capacitors are required to implement a complete charging solution, minimising component count and board space.

Additional features include external end-of-charge control, automatic power-down when input power is removed, and an active-high charge enable. The device supports a 6V input voltage, a battery charge voltage of 4.2V, and a charge current of 450mA. It operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and is suitable for surface mount applications.
