The Microchip 8-bit AVR Microcontroller is a high-performance picoPower RISC-based device combining 32kB ISP flash memory with read-while-write capabilities, 1024B EEPROM, and 2kB SRAM. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, the device achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz, effectively balancing power consumption and processing speed. This advanced RISC architecture includes an on-chip 2-cycle multiplier and 32 general purpose working registers.

Peripherals and Interfaces

Equipped with 23 general purpose I/O lines, this microcontroller offers extensive connectivity options. It features three flexible timer/counters with compare modes, internal and external interrupts, a programmable serial USART, a byte-oriented 2-wire serial interface, and an SPI serial port. An 8-channel 10-bit A/D converter, a programmable watchdog timer with an internal oscillator, a Real Time Counter with a separate oscillator, and temperature measurement capabilities further expand its utility. Power-on reset and programmable brown-out detection ensure reliable system stability.

Power Saving and Touch Control

The device supports the QTouch® library for capacitive touch buttons, sliders, and wheels. It operates efficiently between 1.8V and 5.5V, featuring six software selectable power saving modes: Idle, ADC noise reduction, power-save, power-down, standby, and extended standby. It is designed to withstand an industrial operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
