The Microchip 8-Bit Flash MCU is a fully-static Flash-based CMOS microcontroller that employs a RISC architecture with only 33 single-word and single-cycle instructions. All instructions execute in a single cycle, except for programme branches which require two cycles. The 12-bit wide instructions are highly symmetrical, resulting in a typical 2:1 code compression over other 8-bit microcontrollers in its class, while the easy-to-use instruction set significantly reduces development time.
Equipped with special features designed to reduce system cost and power requirements, this microcontroller includes a Power-on Reset (POR) and Device Reset Timer (DRT) that eliminate the need for external reset circuitry. It also boasts low-power high-speed flash technology and a fully static design, alongside a remarkably low sleep current of just 100nA.
