The Microchip CAN Controller is a second-generation standalone Controller Area Network (CAN) device featuring an industry-standard SPI interface. Housed in a 20-pin TSSOP package, this advanced controller implements the CAN specification version 2.0B, making it capable of transmitting and receiving both standard and extended data, as well as remote frames.
Designed to significantly reduce host microcontroller overhead, it features two acceptance masks and six acceptance filters to efficiently filter out unwanted messages. The device also includes upgraded features such as faster throughput, data byte filtering on the first two data bytes for standard data frames, and support for time-triggered protocols.
