The Microchip Fixed LDO Voltage Regulator is a high-performance linear regulator designed to deliver a reliable 5V output. Capable of supplying up to 250mA of current, this low-dropout (LDO) device consumes a mere 2µA of typical quiescent current, making it exceptionally efficient for battery-operated systems.
With an input operating range of 2.7V to 16V, this regulator is perfectly suited for applications powered by two to six primary cells, 9V alkaline batteries, or one to two-cell Li-Ion batteries. The device features a typical output voltage tolerance of ±0.4% at +25°C and maintains a maximum tolerance of ±3% across its wide operating junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
Stability is ensured with the use of just 1µF of output capacitance, offering flexibility with ceramic, tantalum, or aluminium electrolytic capacitors for both input and output. Built-in overcurrent limiting and overtemperature shutdown mechanisms provide a robust and secure solution for demanding environments. Additional features include reduced ground current during dropout and a faster startup time.
