The Multicomp Pro IC Socket is a high-quality, low-profile DIL (Dual In-Line) socket designed for secure and reliable integrated circuit mounting on printed circuit boards (PCBs). Its dual-wiping contact design ensures a strong, gas-tight connection with the IC pins, maximising electrical performance and long-term reliability. The socket's innovative design allows for stacking end-to-end or side-to-side, enabling very high board density for compact electronic designs.
Featuring a large target area with tapered lead-in ramps, this socket makes inserting and removing DIP ICs remarkably easy, reducing the risk of bent pins and speeding up the assembly process. The robust insulator is constructed from P.B.T. (polybutylene terephthalate) with 30% glass fibre reinforcement, a UL-recognised material known for its excellent dimensional stability, high heat resistance, and strong dielectric properties. This construction allows the socket to perform reliably across a wide operating temperature range of -45°C to +105°C, making it suitable for demanding industrial, automotive, and commercial applications.
The contacts are made from phosphor bronze for optimal spring characteristics and conductivity, and are plated with tin over a nickel underplate. This finish provides excellent solderability, good corrosion resistance, and ensures a reliable, low-resistance connection.
