The NEXPERIA 74HC4060D is a highly integrated 14-stage ripple-carry binary counter and oscillator. This CMOS integrated circuit combines a versatile oscillator with a multi-stage divider, making it an essential component for generating precise timing signals and frequency division in a wide array of electronic designs.
Its on-chip oscillator can be configured for use with either an external RC network or a crystal, providing excellent flexibility for clock generation. The oscillator features three dedicated terminals (RS, RTC, and CTC) for easy setup. Alternatively, an external clock signal can be applied directly to the RS input, allowing the internal oscillator to be bypassed entirely when an external timing source is preferred. The counter advances on the high-to-low transition of the clock signal.
The device offers ten buffered parallel outputs (Q3 to Q9 and Q11 to Q Q13), providing access to various divided-down frequencies from the main clock. An asynchronous master reset (MR) input allows all counter stages to be cleared immediately, forcing all outputs low regardless of the current clock state, ensuring precise control over the counting sequence.
A notable feature is the inclusion of input clamp diodes. This design allows for the use of current-limiting resistors to interface the inputs with voltage signals that exceed the VCC supply voltage, enhancing the IC's robustness and compatibility in mixed-voltage environments. The device operates from a wide supply voltage range of 2V to 6V and is fully compliant with the JEDEC standard no. 7A for CMOS input levels.
