ONSEMI USB positive overvoltage protection controller with internal PMOS FET. 1.2-20V supply, TSOP-5 package. Ideal for USB devices.
This USB positive overvoltage protection controller from ONSEMI features an internal PMOS FET and overcurrent protection, providing robust defence for your electronic systems. It is designed to instantly disconnect the output from the input if the input voltage exceeds the overvoltage threshold of 5.675V, ensuring the system is positively protected up to +20V. By integrating the PMOS FET, this controller eliminates the need for external devices, which reduces both system cost and the PCB area required on the application board.
Key Features and Protections
The controller incorporates multiple layers of safety features, including overvoltage lockout (OVLO), undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and overcurrent protection. If the charge current exceeds the specified limit, the integrated PMOS turns off. Additionally, it provides a negative going flag (active low FLAG) output to alert the system of voltage, current, or overtemperature faults. An EN enable pin and thermal shutdown feature offer further control and security. The device also complies with IEC61000-4-2 (Level 4) for ESD protection, rated at 8kV for contact and 15kV for air.
