The Pimoroni AS7343 14 Channel Spectral Sensor Breakout is a versatile I2C breakout board designed for a wide range of optical sensing applications. At its core is the AMS AS7343 multi-spectral sensor, capable of detecting fourteen distinct channels of light across a broad spectrum from 380nm to 1000nm. This makes it perfect for color matching, fluid and reagent analysis, or general spectral reconstruction tasks.
This breakout is optimized for reflective, transmissive, and emissive measurements, providing accurate and reliable data for your projects. It features 12 visible-to-near-infrared channels as well as dedicated Clear and Flicker Detection channels, ensuring precise light sensing in various conditions. Two onboard illumination LEDs help standardize measurements in varying light environments.
Equipped with an I2C interface (address 0x39), the board is compatible with both 3.3V and 5V power supplies, making it flexible for different microcontrollers. It is designed to work seamlessly with the Breakout Garden system and includes a Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for added versatility. The Raspberry Pi-compatible pinout (pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) simplifies integration, while reverse polarity protection on the Breakout Garden connector ensures safe operation.
Software support is extensive, with a Python library for Raspberry Pi and C++/MicroPython libraries for Raspberry Pi Pico. The breakout comes with a header and right angle female header for easy connection.
