The Power Integrations TOPSwitch-JX Series AC/DC Converter IC integrates a high-efficiency, high-voltage power MOSFET and advanced control circuitry into a single monolithic device. Designed for flyback topology, it incorporates EcoSmart™ energy-efficient technology to achieve exceptional performance across the entire load range, with no-load consumption below 100mW at 265V AC.
This device offers high design flexibility, helping to reduce overall system cost while providing extensive protection features. Key functionalities include output overvoltage protection (OVP), line undervoltage detection to prevent turn-off glitches, line overvoltage shutdown for enhanced surge withstand, and an accurate thermal shutdown with large hysteresis (OTP).
With a 725V-rated power MOSFET, it simplifies design derating requirements. The multi-mode PWM control maximises efficiency at all load levels, and operation at 132kHz allows for a reduction in transformer and power supply size. Features such as fully integrated soft-start minimise start-up stress, and frequency jittering helps reduce EMI filter costs.
