StarTech 1-Port USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20Gbps Type-C PCI Express Card

StarTech 1-Port USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20Gbps Type-C PCI Express Card adds a single USB Type-C port to a desktop PC, supporting data transfer speeds of up to 20Gbps. It is suited to connecting high-speed external storage drives, docks, and other peripherals that require high bandwidth.

Overview

At the heart of the card is the ASMedia ASM3242 controller, which uses four lanes of PCI Express 3.0. For optimal 20Gbps performance, installation into a PCIe 3.0 x4, x8, or x16 slot is recommended, although the card remains compatible with PCIe 2.0 slots. The card supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), which can reduce latency and CPU utilisation during data transfers when used with compatible devices and operating systems.

Key Features

• High-speed USB-C port delivering up to 20Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2)
• Backwards compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps), USB 3.0 (5Gbps), and USB 2.0 devices
• Full-height and low-profile brackets included for standard and small-form-factor desktop cases
• USB-C port supplies up to 15W (5V/3A) of power for charging smartphones, tablets, and other portable devices
• Automatic, built-in drivers for Windows 8 and above, Linux, and macOS

Important Notes

This is a dedicated data and power card. The USB-C port does not support DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video output, Power Delivery charging protocols for laptops, or Thunderbolt connectivity.
