The STMicroelectronics STEF01FTR is a fully programmable universal electronic fuse designed to monitor output current and input voltage on DC power lines. It is ideal for protecting sensitive electronic systems from overcurrent and overvoltage conditions, and it helps ensure reliable operation in a wide range of applications.
When connected in series with the main power rail, the device quickly detects overloads and limits the output current to a preset safe value. If the overload persists, the fuse opens and disconnects the load to prevent damage. The operation is fully programmable: undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage clamp, and start-up time can be adjusted with external components. The adjustable turn-on time helps manage in-rush current during startup and hot-swap operations.
The device supports both thermal latch and autoretry protection modes, selectable via a dedicated pin, and includes features such as power good indication and maximum allowable power protection. It can also drive an optional external MOSFET for reverse current protection, increasing system safety.
