Texas Instruments LMR62421 DC-DC regulator. 2.7-5.5V in, 3-24V out at 2.1A. High-efficiency, 1.6MHz switching for compact designs.
The Texas Instruments LMR62421XMF/NOPB is a high-performance, monolithic step-up voltage regulator from the SIMPLE SWITCHER® family. Designed for both Boost and SEPIC topologies, this compact component integrates all active functions for efficient local DC/DC conversion, offering fast transient response and accurate regulation while minimising PCB footprint. It is engineered to deliver up to 2.1A of output current with exceptional efficiency, making it a cornerstone for power-sensitive designs.
Operating at a high switching frequency of 1.6MHz, this regulator allows for the use of extremely small surface-mount inductors and ceramic capacitors, significantly reducing the size of the external bill of materials. This high frequency, combined with current-mode control and internal compensation, simplifies design, reduces component count, and ensures stable, high-performance operation across a wide range of input voltages and load conditions.
Key to its design for portable applications is an external shutdown feature with an ultra-low standby current of just 80nA, maximising battery life. Additional integrated protection and control features include internal soft-start to limit inrush current, cycle-by-cycle current limiting for robust overload protection, and thermal shutdown to safeguard the IC under fault conditions.
