Texas Instruments MAX232D dual RS232 transceiver for 5V systems. Converts TTL to RS232, 120kbps data rate, ±30V input. SOIC-16 package.
The MAX232D from Texas Instruments is a highly integrated, dual-channel RS232 line driver and receiver. This robust IC is engineered to facilitate serial communication by converting TTL/CMOS logic levels to and from standard TIA/EIA-232-F voltage signals, all from a single 5V power supply. Its built-in capacitive voltage generator eliminates the need for dual, higher voltage power supplies, simplifying design and reducing component count in a wide array of electronic applications.
Each of the two onboard receivers is designed to accept inputs of up to ±30V, providing excellent noise immunity and protection in electrically noisy environments. They feature a typical threshold of 1.3V with 0.5V of hysteresis, ensuring reliable data reception. Conversely, the two drivers efficiently convert 5V TTL/CMOS inputs to the full RS232 voltage swing required for compliant communication over longer cable runs.
