This Quad Differential Comparator from Texas Instruments is a low power, low offset voltage device designed specifically to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from split power supplies is also possible, with the low power supply current drain remaining independent of the magnitude of the power supply voltage. This precision comparator features an offset voltage specification as low as 2mV maximum.
A unique characteristic of this device is that the input common-mode voltage range includes ground, even when operated from a single power supply voltage. It directly interfaces with TTL and CMOS logic, and when operated from dual power supplies, it interfaces directly with MOS logic. The differential input voltage range is equal to the power supply voltage, and the output voltage is compatible with TTL, DTL, ECL, MOS, and CMOS logic systems.
Additional benefits include reduced VOS drift over temperature, eliminating the need for dual supplies and allowing sensing near GND. The low power drain makes it highly suitable for battery operation, and it is classified as a green product with no Sb/Br. Please note that the device has limited built-in ESD protection; leads should be shorted together or the device placed in conductive foam during storage or handling to prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates.
