The TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Quad Half H-Bridge Motor Driver IC provides four individually controllable 1/2-H-bridge drivers, making it a highly versatile solution for a variety of motor and load driving applications. It is designed to efficiently drive two DC motors, one stepper motor, four solenoids, or other loads, utilising N-channel power MOSFETs configured in a 1/2-H-bridge arrangement.
Delivering up to 2.5A peak or 1.75A RMS output current per channel (with appropriate PCB heat sinking at 24V and 25°C), this driver IC operates within a supply voltage range of 8V to 60V. It supports ±30V split supply configurations via PWM control. To facilitate operation with split supplies, logic inputs and the nFAULT output are referenced to a separate floating ground pin.
Advanced Protection and Features
The device includes comprehensive internal shutdown functions for overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, under-voltage lockout, and over-temperature scenarios. Additional features include a low MOSFET on-resistance, floating input buffers that allow dual bipolar supplies up to ±30V, and a built-in 3.3V/10mA LDO regulator. The industry-standard IN/IN digital control interface simplifies integration, while outputs can be connected in parallel for higher current applications. Furthermore, it is a green product free from Sb/Br.
